A Journal of Historical Fiction

A good book should leave you... slightly exhausted at the end.  You live several lives while reading it.

~William Styron

Welcome to The Copperfield Review, a journal for readers and writers of historical fiction. We believe that by understanding the past through historical fiction we can gain better insights into the nature of our world today, as well as a better understanding of ourselves.

Just added! Read Paula Day's review of Mr. Darcy, Vampyre, the Amanda Grange novel inspired by Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. We will be adding more reviews in the coming weeks.

We are now accepting submissions for our Spring 2010 edition.

We are always seeking non-fiction articles and creative non-fiction as well as essays about the writing life, particularly writing historical fiction. We are also accepting reviews of historical novels and non-fiction books about history or writing. See our Submission Guidelines for further information.

The Winter 2011 edition of The Copperfield Review will be our tenth anniversary issue. If you are an author who has published fiction, non-fiction, or poetry in any edition of CR and you would like to have your previously published piece considered for our retrospective 10th anniversary edition, please submit your work to us at info(at)copperfieldreview(dot)com according to our submission guidelines. Be sure the words "Anniversary Edition Submission" appear in the subject heading of your e-mail. Please note that anniversary submissions will be considered from May 1, 2010 to November 30, 2010 only. Submissions sent prior to or after those dates will not be considered.

The Copperfield Review has joined Facebook. Have a comment you'd like to share about a favorite historical work? Just want to say hello? Then join us! Authors who would like to publicize their history-related work are invited to post on our wall.
